MYSTERY still surrounds the cause of the shake from Queenscliff to Mona Vale on Tuesday afternoon.
Dozens of residents across a number of suburbs reported the movement for several seconds about 3.45pm. Geosciences Australia insisted there were no earth tremors in recent days. Larry Shepherd of Queenscliff, who has experienced earthquakes in Japan, said what shook his south facing windows was not an earthquake. «It was like someone took hold of the windows and just shook them,» he said. For Shelley Catliff, of Narraweena, «it was as if someone was bashing on the windows to get in. «I got quite a shock from it,» she said.
